Marsella + Knoetgen Architects is a Westchester-based architectural, interior design and planning firm. The partners are personally dedicated to producing projects of the highest quality and value. Marsella + Knoetgen’s practice has been a balance of architectural and interior design work encompassing projects of restoration (presented with New York Landmarks Preservation Award), renovation of professional offices, residential apartments and houses (published The New City Home). The firm’s principals, Frank Marsella and John Knoetgen, have over 25 years of design experience incorporating traditional and contemporary space.
The services of Marsella + Knoetgen begin at a project’s earliest stages, prior to site or building selection, and extend beyond move-in. The partners closely monitor the progress of each project to ensure quality design, budget control and timely scheduling. Marsella + Knoetgen’s flexibility, responsiveness and creative problem solving, fostered through close client relationships, has enabled the firm to produce innovative designs. Frank Marsella, AIA, NCARB, was born in Mamaroneck, New York. He received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from New York Institute of Technology in 1994 and his Master of Architecture degree from Syracuse University in 1996. While attending Syracuse, Frank studied and lived in Florence, Italy where he focused on renaissance architecture. Upon receiving his undergraduate degree, he joined the firm Weintraub & di Domenico Architects, specializing in municipal projects throughout the metropolitan area. Frank later joined Nadler & Philopena Associates in Westchester designing custom homes & additions. He also worked with the Gold Medal Award Winning Architecture Firm R.M. Kliment & Frances Halsband Architects specializing in historic restorations. Frank Marsella is a licensed architect in the State of New York, Maryland, NCARB Certified, and an active member of The American Institute of Architects.
John M Knoetgen, RA, NCARB, was born in Huntington, New York. He received his Bachelors of Architecture from Pratt Institute in 1990 with honors. He worked with the distinguished firm, Butler, Rogers Baskett Architects, where he worked closely with Jim Rogers on law firms, corporate interiors, schools and recreational facilities. He also worked with the Gold Medal Award Winning Architecture Firm R.M. Kliment & Frances Halsband Architects where he worked as project Architect on dormitories and historic restorations and worked on colleges with Michael Nieminen as well as Robert Kliment. John Knoetgen is a licensed architect in the State of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, NCARB Certified and has practiced in New York City for 11 years.
